Transport company funds goose research

Transport and logistics firm Samskip is reinforcing its commitment to the environment by becoming a main sponsor of the Wildfowl and Wetlands Trust. Samskip, who have roots in the arctic regions, will be helping to fund research into the decline of the Greenland White-fronted Goose, discovered by WWT founder Sir Peter Scott 60 years ago.

The research, which will involve tagging geese with neck collars, hopes to discover the cause of the sharp fall in numbers of the species returning to their wintering sites in the British Isles.
