Households doing their bit for wildlife

The majority of British homeowners are doing something to help nature in their homes and gardens, according to a recent survey by garden retailer Alfresia.

Of those surveyed, 60% admitted making a conscious effort to encourage wildlife, and over two thirds avoiding the use of pesticides, and over half putting food out for the birds.

Those aged between 55 and 64 are making the most effort, with the 25 to 34 year old age group following closely behind, while geographically Oxford and Bristol take the lead in the home conservation stakes.
