RSPB Wales Black Grouse Watch. 5.30am start. You might think we’re dancing, but our bobbing white tails and bubbling call are part of the serious business of mating. Groups of Black grouse males meet at our display ground – or Lek – to show off to the females, so the stakes are high. Not many people get a chance to see us in action: but you can, on an RSPB guided walk. Black Grouse Watch tickets cost £6.50. Any profits will go towards RSPB conservation work, such as halting the decline of Black grouse. Advance booking is essential, as places are limited. To book you place on the Black Grouse walks, please call 02920 353010 or email: cymru@rspb.org.uk

RSPB Wales Puffin Island Wildlife Cruises. Our home here on Puffin Island is a truly amazing place. It is a protected seabird colony, where you cannot only see puffins, but also experience the sights and sounds of thousands of guillemots and razorbills nesting on the cliffs and squabbling for space; watch Sandwich terns diving for fish and eider ducks and cormorants feeding. You can even see nosey grey seals along the coastline. There’s no better way to do this than on an RSPB wildlife cruise aboard the catamaran Cerismar Two. On Puffin Island, off Anglesey. The cruises, run in partnership with Cerismar Two, were awarded a silver award for best visitor attraction 2008 by the Anglesey Tourism Association. Cruises run on Saturday 26 May, Saturday 9 June, Sunday 1 July, Sunday 15 July. All cruises leave Beaumaris Pier at 10.30am, 12.15pm, 2.00pm and 3.45pm, and last 11⁄2 hours. Please bring suitable clothing as it may be cooler out on the water and it is likely you will catch some spray. In the event of a bad weather forecast we will try to ring you the day before the cruise and you will be welcome to transfer to another date.
£9 for members and £11 for non-members, pay on the day at the Cerismar Two kiosk on Beaumaris Pier. Booking is essential. Simply call us on 029 2035 3010 or e-mail: cymru@rspb.org.uk

RSPB Wales Nightjar walks. 8pm. Stay out late and join us on an expert guided evening walk through the beautiful Coed Llandegla Forest. Your walk will take you to a clear fell area where we nightjars are known to churr and flap the night away! If you’re lucky you may see up to four of us displaying, and that is something not to be missed. Lots of other wildlife can be seen during the walk, which takes place at a time when most people do not venture out – why not try something new? It’s better than TV! Along with our friends, the black grouse, we will be at the Coed Llandegla Forest, owned by UPM Tilhill. A confirmation pack will be sent after you book with all the details you need. The forest is in the midst of beautiful North Wales, only 20 miles from Wrexham, it is full of great bike trails, and walks – why not make a weekend of it? All walks start at 8 pm and for those booking on a Wednesday evening walk, why not join in with the OnePlanet Adventure BBQ first? No need to book. The walks cost £3 per person. The maximum number of people on a walk is 15, booking is essential to avoid disappointment. Simply call us on 029 2035 3010 or e-mail: cymru@rspb.org.uk
