Rye Meads Nature Reserve . Dawn Chorus, 4.45-6.45am. Enjoy a guided walk around the reserve with a guide. We’ll listen to the dawn chorus and help you to identify different bird calls. It’s a Bank Holiday on Monday so you've got time to recover from an early morning! Booking required, for more information and to book please contact the reserve. Rye Meads Nature Reserve . Nestbox Watch, 1-3 pm. Ever wonder what baby birds look like? Want to see some cute feathery bundles up close? Well join the Rye Meads Ringing Group for a look at our nestbox inhabitants and see bird ringing by qualified ringers in action. The Ringers put small rings on the birds' legs (it doesn't hurt them, it's just like us wearing a watch), each ring has an individual number so if we see those birds again we can tell where they've come from, how old they are and more important information! Rye Meads Nature Reserve . Wildlife Explorers Club - Scrapbook for Zambia, 11 am-1pm. The Zambian Ornithological Society has lots of children’s groups across the country and they would like to make links with groups in the UK. This month we are going to make a scrapbook to send to Zambia – we are going to draw pictures of the wildlife and take photos out on the reserve to show the children in Zambia all about our local wildlife. In time they’ll send one back! The Wildlife Explorers Club is a monthly club for 6-11 year olds to explore nature while having fun playing games and doing crafts. Cost: £3 for RSPB Wildlife Explorer members, £4.50 for non-members, free for accompanying adults. Booking is required. Rye Meads Nature Reserve . Wildlife Watch, 2-4 pm. You don’t have to know anything about wildlife – volunteers will be in one of the hides to point out wildlife and answer your questions. Free for everyone, you don't need to book. The Wildlife Watch is a monthly event; it will run every second Sunday 10 am-12 noon and the last Saturday in the month 2-4 pm. Families can borrow explorer backpacks and bird bingo sheets to explore the reserve further. You can borrow binoculars from the visitor centre for £1.50 per day!
